I use a system quite similar to this even tough my primary GTD system is on Outlook. I'm frequently at customer visits during the day and only have access to my laptop in the evenings. I carry a spiral-bound 8 by 5 notebook with me and use it to capture information during the day, then enter it into my laptop in the evenings. It's a convenient size - spiral bound means I can open it completely, and it's a good compromise between luggability and surface area on a single page. I have sloppy handwriting and write large, so I go through them relatively quickly, but as a capture device it works for me.
